We deliver a single wrapped rose.

March 1st, 2007 No comments

As part of our new “Emotion” series of products, we now offer delivery of a single wrapped rose.  The price is $8 without a vase (with a bud vase, it’s $10), plus normal delivery charge.

Yup, it’s a little pricey for just one rose, but believe me, we aren’t making a whole lot of money by cleaning, wrapping, and delivering just one stem of rose! :-)

As far as we are aware, few forists will deliver a single stem of rose.  But we happen to believe that delivery of a single stem of (red) rose is very romatic and this service is something our customers expect from us.

So please take advantage of this service; call us today to order the delivery of a single wrapped rose to your loved one!

Flower market update

March 1st, 2007 No comments

The effects of California Cold Snap are now almost gone from the market.

However, in mid February, there was a cold snap in Bogota, Columbia, which is the major exporter of Roses, Alstromeria, Carnations, and other flowers to the US.

Alstromeria and Carnations: As the result, there has been a severe shortage, and a price hike, of Alstromeria and Carnations.  While we usually do not use Carnations in our arrangements, we do use Alstromeria.  Our wholesalers are getting them from Mexico, Canada, and Holland to help cover the demand.

Because of increased demands for Carnations from Russia (Women’s Day) and Japan (Spring Festival), there will be a significant price hike of Carnations, part of which will be passed along to retailers and eventually to consumers.  Also, the farms are Harvesting carnations way before their full bloom.  It’s not a good time to buy carnations.

Roses: Their availabilities are good.

Hydrangea: AA grade Hydrangea from New Zealand will become available next week.  Though not as good as Holland Hydranea, the AA-grade Hydrangea are much bigger and taller than South American counterports.
