Two prices for each flower

June 27th, 2007 No comments

Do you know that we have two prices for each flower we sell?

The regular price is for the flower arrangement in a vase, basket, or gift-wrapping.  The price includes our larbor charge, as well as the costs of the container, greeneries, filler flowers, and decorations (such as ribbons), all of which are necessary to make a presentable gift.

The cash-and-carry or “wholesale” price is for unarranged flowers.  Let’s say you just want to bring a couple of Sunflowers home, and there is no need to make it “nice.”  Then, you pay only the cash-and carry price, which is about half of the regular price.

But please remember: Cash-and-carry pricing is only for Do-It-Yourselfers.  We will wrap them in a wax paper, but that’s about it.  No greens, no fillers, no ribbons, and, well, no labors.   That’s why it’s cheaper.  But if you just want to bring flowers home, probably this is the way to go.  Do it yourself and save!

Got A Question For You.

Can anyone please tell me when they changed the meanings of the stop lights. I am very confused, you see it has been sometime since I took a driving test or looked at the laws regulating signs. I have been noticing a huge change in there meaning and afew other rules of the road.

1. It appears that a green light now means drive as fast as you can, without the thought of possibly stopping.

2. The yellow light no longer means slow down because the light will change, but now it means speed up and go as fast as you can to make the light.

3. The red light now means the same as the green light. Go as fast as you can. So what if there is another car coming , they will have to break and let you go. Pedestrians will have to run faster or jump further to avoid being hit.

4. Oh ya, and my favorite. This is called beat the on coming traffic to make the left turn before they can hit you or to see how many feet of black skid marks are left on the concrete after their foot goes through the brake pedal and hits ground. I’m not sure when this law changed, but more and more people have read about it.

5. Another one of my favorites is the number of car lengths that are considered safe. It was 1 car length for every 10 miles per hour ( 60mph= 6 car lengths). No more! I don’t know if it’s because there is so much traffic, that it is hard to go 60 and they decided it wasn’t necessary anymore or if someone decided that it was safe to drive as close as you can, making sure that the car infront of you can not see your headlights. Thus, the headlights of your car will not distract the driver in front of you (the idea being it will be safer for the other car and you). Maybe?

6. This is another one I’m not sure about. Speeding up to go around the car in front of you, just in time to break behind the car that is stopped at the red light.

These are just afew of the changes I have noticed, I’m sure that there are many more but, I guess I will have to read the new driver review book put out by DMV to catch up on things.

Guys love flowers!

June 9th, 2007 No comments

Flower & manWe are pleased to anounce that we will offer 30% dicount to every flower- or plant-arrangement going to your Dad on Father’s Day (Jun 16th; we don’t deliver on Sundays).

Ladies, let me ask this question first. When was the last time you sent flowers to your husband, boyfriend, or …. your Dad? Ask your mom if she ever sent flowers to Dad.

There is a very good chance that your Dad has never received flowers in his entire life. Sure, he might have gotten all those stereo-typical gifts, like a necktie, golf-related stuff, beers, fishing rod, etc.

As a guy, I can tell you that few guys actually like receiving one of those. Why? Because we rather want to choose those things by ourselves. Remember when your boyfriend gave you a pair of, umm, “nice-looking” earring that you actually didn’t like to wear? You get the idea.

Guys love flowers, secretly. Of course we don’t admit it, because “flower-loving guy” just doesn’t sound like a “manly” man. Flowers are for women – that’s what we were taught; no guy likes to be seen “like a woman”. But, if you go to any nursery and carefully observe people over there, you will find most guys admiring flowers. In fact, most workers in the florist wholesale industry are men; even in the retail sector, the men:women ratio of workers is just about 50:50.

So it’s time to send flowers to your Dad! It will achieve the most critical factor in gift-giving:

… Surprise.

I can assure you that your Dad would be very, very pleased.
